Nudist vs. Swinger

I’ve done it!  I have decided to pack up in an RV and live on a nudist resort for a couple of months… get out of the snow, work on not getting tan lines (lol) and try and navigate this new world.

We have been at the resort for less than a week.  Outside of the logistics of setting up a new RV and learning how to be in a smaller space, I am having a great time and learning lots of lessons.

Mike and I have travelled a bit over the last couple of years and one of the biggest lessons I have learned is that there really is a nudist vs. swinger mentality… it’s strange to me, and this is why:

I truly believe Lifestyle should be a body and sex positive community with no judgement!! This is what I stand for!   So, you can imagine my surprise in lessons when in comes to the “OG’s” (original gangsters) in both communities.

As someone who identifies as primarily “swinger”, I am learning that in nudist communities it is looked down upon.   Nudists tend to be threatened by swingers, in my experience.  And swingers have a hard time navigating nudist communities.  It’s so weird.  I think I have figured out why:

                1.            Nudists tend to be an older generation of couples who truly enjoy the freedom of not being constrained by textiles.  They tend to be in monogamist relationships, and have enjoyed the freedom of shirking conventional norms.  Rules at a nudist resort include a firm “no overt sexuality” clause.  This creates a safe environment for nudists to just be “au natural”, without worrying about pervs intruding in the environment.

                2.            Swingers are used to a different set of rules.  We don’t touch without permission, however flirting is encouraged, and dare I say… a part of why we are swingers… the overt sexuality keeps sparks alive in our relationships, and it it’s fun to imagine possibilities, and occasionally fulfill them.  Swingers are more open and honest about sexuality and having free discussions (part of why I identify the way I do)

I guess my lesson is this:  ASK!  If you are friendly and open and honest, swingers can have a lovely time at nudist resorts, but don’t come in expecting play.  Play rarely happens with OG nudists. You come to relax, meet new people and have blast.  The resort I am at offers pickle ball, aerobics, basketball, volleyball, two pools, and over course nightly activities such as dancing and karaoke.

If you want to play, then go to a swingers resort.  There are many I can recommend and it is a completely different vibe..

I have learned to ask how someone primarily identifies, so I know which conversation I am having 😉

Greetings from the road!! Love to you al!

  1. I was a nudist since 1989 and was an AANR member (American Association of Nudist Recreation) and you are correct the differences are based on the understanding of freedom vs the focus on the sexual side of things.

I left the nudist lifestyle when we became swingers as it was frowned upon.

I am still a home nudist (still wear a robe with my children around).
